Fine Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase, Meiji (1868-1912), baluster form with wide, finely gilded neck, decorated with Bijin and children viewing the fishes of the sea in an aquarium, in colours against a buff ground, on a wide foot, signed, height 25.5cm

The vase is in very good condition but for a few very minor faults. There is slight wear to the gilding on the rim. There is some patchy glaze staining around the foot rim, this almost takes the form of spotting. There is some loss to the keyed decoration above the foot rim. There are no chips, cracks or restoration.
