Cantonese carved tortoiseshell circular box and cover, third quarter 19th Century, traditionally carved with figures beside pavilions and trees, the underside carved with scholars debating, all within a keyed border, 9.5cm diameter; also a Cantonese carved wooden pill box, similarly carved, 4cm diameter (2)

More Information

The tortoiseshell box: Condition overall is good. There are however a couple of small chips to the bottom edge of the cover (see images). There are tiny chips to the inside of the outer border of the cover (again see image). A couple of chips to the edge of the base. The base is also slightly detached from its position within the edge of the base (see two of the images for a comparison), it is probably possible to re-position this if done carefully. No further damage detected.
The wooden box: Good condition with no faults found.
