George II silver tankard, by John Swift, London 1751, slight baluster form with an engraved cartouche, over a domed circular foot, height 12.5cm, weight approx. 396g (12.73 troy ozs)

More Information

There are a number of small pinprick and blade dents around the baluster; these are all fairly small. The engraving we feel is contemporary. There is a compression visible on the inside resulting from the lower part of the handle pushing into the body. The hallmarks are clear on the underside. The tankard sits flat. There is a hole through over zealous cleaning at the top of the handle. Throughout the gauge of silver is good.
