Victorian Enfield 1853 pattern .577 muzzling loading percussion rifle musket, 38 1/2'' barrel with ladder foresight, ramrod, the lock plate signed with crowned VR cipher, Enfield 1860, walnut stock with brass heel, overall length 138cm

More Information

There is a closed split at the butt end of the stock; also a forend split near the barrel. Some poor infill at the heel of the stock and a split under the forestock running from the finger guard. Around the finger guard there appears to be burn marks within the wood or certainly some dark staining.

The action is working well both at full and half cock. Some slither losses to the forend around the ram rod housing. Proof marks are unclear. Some small nibbles around the muzzle end of the barrel.

No further problems to report, altogether a nice original example.
