Victorian tortoiseshell tea caddy, circa 1840-60, the oval body clad in tortoiseshell, with electroplated hinged cover surmounted with a tortoise finial, width 14cm

There is bleeding to the hinge cover and mounts, the copper now clearly showing through. The tortoiseshell is in good condition with no splits or losses. There is no key and no pin to the locking mechanism.

The interior is simply bare wood. No further problems to report.
