Fees

Pair of Chinese 'clobbered' export vases, early 19th Century with later decoration, each with a domed lid surmounted with a gilded Dog of Fo finial, the bodies decorated with famille rose floral panels against a later green enamelled ground with polychrome details, height 31cm

More Information

One cover has some rather large chips and a repaired chip together with signs of old restoration. There is a strong possibility that the Dog of Fo finial has been replaced on this particular lid (see images of both lids). The other lid has been fully restored, this has been done some time ago. One of the vases has a chip to the neck with associated hair crack, approximately 1.5cm. The other vase has a small chip to the foot rim and in our opinion there is a possibility that this may be Samson copies of the Chinese, difficult to tell under all the clobbering.
