George III mahogany knife box, circa 1800, traditional sloping front opening to a vacant interior, bordered throughout with boxwood and ebony chequered stringing, width 21.5cm, height 30cm

The interior is totally missing. There is infill around the escutcheon. Additional screws on the back of the lid. Splits to the veneers on the back. Small missing elements of inlay and beading around the base. The lid does not close properly but gaps approximately 5mm. On the positive side, not a bad colour.
