Good George III mahogany kettle stand, circa 1765, having a nicely figured tilt top over a slender turned and acanthus carved wrythen moulded baluster column, raised on three carved cabriole legs with scroll toes and brass castors, 55.5cm diameter, height 74cm

More Information

There's a very, very slight undulation to the top which can be felt with the hand. The surface has lots of old scratches, ring marks, ink marks. Underneath the table edge there are clamp marks. The catch on the underside appears to be original as do the ribs, although the screws are probably replacements. The baluster column is finely carved. The legs are nicely patinated although with knocks and scrapes to the upper surfaces. Knocks around the scroll feet. The castors may be original but have been re-positioned (see images).
