Estimate

£600 - £800

Fees

French Second Empire mahogany and parcel gilt console table, circa 1870, demi-lune form with brass tramline inlays and with a cast brass griffon frieze, carved giltwood eagle with wings spread, flanked by brass capped figural caryatids over a demi-lune base with gilt paw feet, width 78cm, height 81cm, depth 40cm

More Information

Signs of restoration and re-polishing. In our opinion the eagle is a later addition. The brass tramline inlays on the top have sprung and been retained by a panel pin. There is a polished out gouge to the top. Small loss to the gilt on the wing of the eagle. Split to the veneer on the back edge of the base. Slight wear to the gilt on the left hand caryatid. Small loss to the brass tramline inlay on the back panel.
