Exhibition quality French rosewood and inlaid lady's vanity table, circa 1860, having a shaped mirror with moulded carved outlines surmounted with a shell, supported on carved supports, over a table fitted with two small jewellery drawers profusely inlaid with brass, pewter, mother of pearl, abalone and coloured lacquers, opening to reveal a writing slide with original gilt tooled purple Morocco leather writing surface, pull out drawer to the frieze, with comparted interior with inlaid and kingwood banded trays and covers, and two pen trays, keyed inlays to the front, over a sliding ivory silk pleated sewing well, a barrel fronted drawer to either side, all raised on profusely carved supports with small barleytwist columns and C-scrolls, united by double S-scrolled stretcher with silk damask foot pad, the whole raised on brass castors, width 85cm, depth 53.5cm, height 140cm (Ivory exemption application no. 8XALF4BB)
