George II oak enclosed dresser and plate rack, North Wales, circa 1720-40, boarded rack with ogee moulded cornice, over a base with three short drawers with brass knobs, over two double fielded panel cupboard doors, opening to a single shelf and centred with a vertical fielded panel, raised on stile supports, width 155cm, height 183cm

More Information

The plate rack is almost certainly reduced in height. The top of the base is well patinated with ink stains, ring marks. There is a rectangular patch let in. There is an old repaired damaged corner. It has a glassy patina. It sags slightly in the centre at the back.
The insides of the drawers exhibit signs of old woodworm. The brass knobs are later. There are lots nibbles around the edges of the drawers and there is evidence of earlier handles to the centre of the drawers.
The shelves inside the cupboards have a nicely patinated front.
There is some old woodworm evident in the back feet. All the hinges to the two doors are replacements. The depth of the base is 58cm.
