Fees

Chippendale style carved mahogany armchair, possibly Irish, 19th Century, interlaced carved splat back with rocaille details, acanthus carved open arms, fabric stuffover seat, raised on acanthus carved cabriole forelegs with acanthus scroll feet, width 61cm, height 98cm

More Information

The back splat has three breaks and a small chip to the carving. There is evidence of old pin marks where brackets would have supported the splat. There appears to be evidence that the top rail has been detached at some point and restuck ((see images). The right arm flexes slightly and has scratches on it that appear consistent with animal claws.
There is wear to the acanthus carving on the forearms. The current upholstery is clean and tight. Small knocks and scrapes to the legs and feet.
