Pair of late George III mahogany and satinwood banded chests on chests, circa 1800-20, each fitted with two short upper drawers over four long graduated drawers, crossbanded with satinwood and with boxwood and ebony tramlines, turned ebonised knobs, raised on bracket feet, width 107cm, depth 51cm, height 116cm

These chests are of good quality but do require some restoration.
The chest with some white eyes to the knobs: The top has losses to the beading around the upper edges. All knobs are replacements. There are slithers of wood missing between the drawers. The chest is in two parts and there are slither losses to the moulding where the two parts join. Losses to the veneers, particularly around the lower drawers. Splits to the side panel of the base on the left and one split on the right. All feet are original.
The other chest: The moulding around the top of the lower part is completely missing. Again there are losses to the beaded edge around the top. all knobs are replacements. There are missing veneers between the drawers. Loss of wood to the rear left hand back edge. Missing moulding around the lower part just above the bracket feet. Please note that the drawer linings may be camphor or cedar. Backboards are original.
