Mahogany bookstand, 19th Century, in Georgian style having a bi-sectional mid shelf supported on slender turned columns, over a three-quarter galleried shelf beneath, raised on swan neck legs with pad feet, width 48cm, depth 26.5cm, height 87cm

More Information

The mahogany is of good quality, being heavy and solid. The top is raising above its underframe slightly causing a gap of approx. 2-3mm. This is due to slight warping. There is the odd ring mark to the top and spotting through neglect. There is a chip to the back right corner. The wood on the top may have been dark stained. Where the stain has worn the red mahogany is coming through (see images). Elsewhere the piece is of uniform colour. Knocks and scrapes consistent with normal use and age and some neglect.
