Ceccardo Egidio Fucigna (circa 1836-84), Study of a girl in historical costume, hand worked terracotta sculpture, signed, height 47cm
NB: Fucigna worked as John Birnie Philip's chief assistant modeller and completed a number of works that were unfinished after Birnie Philip's death in 1875. The architect William Burgess commissioned Fucigna to make two works for Cardiff Castle, a statue of St John Divine and the Virgin and Child, both dating from 1875
